Main Line School Districts: Which District Serves Which Town
Which public school districts serve each Main Line town, why the mailing address is not enough, how to verify a specific address, and where to find official school data.

Public school assignment on the Main Line follows township and borough lines, not town names or ZIP codes. Because many Main Line towns are split between townships, two houses with the same mailing address can be in different districts. This guide shows which districts serve which towns and how to verify a specific address. We do not rate or rank schools.
The districts
| District | Municipalities served (Main Line portion) | Main Line towns, fully or partly |
|---|---|---|
| Lower Merion School District | Lower Merion Township and Narberth Borough | Ardmore, Bala Cynwyd, Bryn Mawr, Gladwyne, Haverford, Merion Station, Narberth, Rosemont, Villanova, Wynnewood |
| Radnor Township School District | Radnor Township | Bryn Mawr, Radnor, Rosemont, St. Davids, Villanova, Wayne |
| School District of Haverford Township | Haverford Township | Ardmore, Bryn Mawr, Haverford, Wynnewood |
| Tredyffrin/Easttown School District | Tredyffrin and Easttown townships | Berwyn, Devon, Paoli, Strafford, Wayne |
| Great Valley School District | Malvern Borough and surrounding townships | Malvern, Paoli |
Wayne also includes a small portion of Upper Merion Township in Montgomery County, served by the Upper Merion Area School District.
Why the address is not enough
Wayne spans three townships in three counties. Bryn Mawr spans three townships in two counties. Ardmore, Haverford, Wynnewood, Villanova and Rosemont are each split between two townships. A listing that says "Bryn Mawr" or "Wayne" does not tell you the district.
How to verify a specific address
- Look up the parcel on the county's property records site to confirm the municipality.
- Use the district's own address lookup or call its enrollment office to confirm the assigned schools.
- Ask whether any boundary or school-assignment changes are planned.
Do this before you make an offer if schools matter to your decision.
Where to find school information
The Pennsylvania Department of Education publishes school-level data through the Future Ready PA Index. Each district also publishes its own information, calendars and enrollment rules. We point you to these sources rather than rating schools ourselves.
Independent and parochial schools
The Main Line also has many independent and parochial schools. Admission is by application and is not tied to your address, so if you plan to use one, your choice of town can rest on other factors.
Before you decide
Boundaries and assignments change. Confirm them for the specific address with the district, in writing if it matters to your purchase. See each town's guide in our Main Line communities section.
