Community guide · Montgomery and Delaware counties
A walkable Main Line downtown with Amtrak and regional rail, Suburban Square and a range of housing.

Ardmore is a community split between Lower Merion Township in Montgomery County and Haverford Township in Delaware County. Its downtown runs along Lancaster Avenue and the streets around the Ardmore train station, and Lower Merion Township has its offices here.
Suburban Square, a shopping center that opened in the 1920s, is next to the station. Ardmore is one of the few Main Line stops served by both SEPTA regional rail and Amtrak Keystone Service.
Twins and single homes from the early 20th century, stone colonials on the side streets, and apartments and condominiums near Lancaster Avenue and the station, including newer mixed-use buildings.
Ardmore has some of the Main Line's widest range of housing within walking distance of a station: twins and modest single homes, larger stone houses a few blocks out, and apartments above shops and in newer buildings downtown.
Rail access, Suburban Square and the downtown make Ardmore a common choice for renters. Small multifamily buildings and twins near Lancaster Avenue come up for sale from time to time; confirm rental licensing, the legal number of units and parking requirements with the township.
Ardmore addresses fall in two townships with different taxes, zoning and schools.
