Builder offer comparison

Compare builder offers on what they really cost

A price reduction, a closing credit and a rate buydown of the same size do different things. Enter up to four offers to see the purchase price, cash to close, monthly cost and the total cost over the years you expect to own the home. Share the comparison as a link, download it, or send it to us for a review.

  • Builder B: the monthly payment rises by $671 after the buydown's first year and reaches the full amount in year 3. Lenders usually qualify you at the full payment.

Values shown are for Builder A. Credits and buydowns are capped by the conventional-loan limit on builder (interested-party) contributions for a primary residence: 3%, 6% or 9% of the price depending on the down payment. FHA, VA, jumbo and other loans use different limits. Mortgage insurance is held constant, although it can usually be removed later.
